The FAA is seeking to fine Evergreen International Airlines over $4m for allowing pilots to operate aircraft on commercial operations with incorrect training.
The FAA alleges that between February 19 and July 9, 2009, Evergreen operated flights with a new Flight Management System that required specific training for the pilots operating the 232 revenue generating flights.
According to the FAA, even though the pilots had received ground training and check rides on the new equipment, familiarization flights were not carried out with the Evergreen check airmen and system manuals were not distributed to the pilots. The pilots have subsequently been trained in accordance with the FAA regulation.
Even though Evergreen is now in compliance, FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt feels the penalty should still be levied.
