Siberia-based S7 Airlines will join the Oneworld alliance effective November 15th, the alliance announced today. The carrier’s plan to join Oneworld was first announced in August 2009.

S7 adds 55 destinations to Oneworld’s route map, filling a significant gap in the alliance’s coverage area and nearly tripling the alliance’s destinations in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe. In addition, nine new countries will enter the Oneworld network: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
