Continental Airlines on Thursday reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract with its flight attendants.

The agreement was made with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) which represents Continental flight attendants.

However, the labor contract offered by Continental must be ratified by the IAM first. In the next weeks, the union will hold a ratification vote to determine if the contract is accepted.

“We appreciate the IAM’s leadership in reaching this important agreement that recognizes the interests of our flight attendants and the company,” said Mike Bonds, senior vice president of human resources and labor relations for Continental.

The agreement will benefit approximately 9,300 Continental flight attendants working at many airports throughout the United States.
