American Eagle, an affiliate of American Airlines, opened on Thursday its new terminal facilities at Miami International Airport (MIA) which will offer increased service and convenience.
With the inauguration of the state-of-the-art facility, American Eagle completed its first phase of its transition to new departure areas at MIA’s gates D53, D55 and D60. The new facility will house both American eagle and American Airlines.
“We are all excited about our American Eagle facility. This facility will allow us to better serve our customers and solidify Miami as one of the premier gateways in the country,” said Peter J. Dolara, American’s Senior Vice President based in Miami.
The new terminal will offer customers improved check-in and domestic baggage claim. It will also have an array of shops and restaurants featuring the flavors for South Florida. The new lounge features two concourse-level gates with jet bridges for convenient boarding.
“The new terminal will not only offer our customers a much more comfortable and enjoyable travel experience, but will provide convenient connections to cities throughout the American Airlines global network,” said Pedro Fabregas, President of American Eagle’s operations in Miami and the Caribbean
For the next phase, the lower-level gates will eliminate the need for must shuttle buses to take passengers to awaiting aircraft. In September, a new Skytrain will be opened and it will whisk thousands of customers per hour along the 1.4 mile route for easier connections to American Airlines flights.
American Eagle currently offers flights from Miami to more than 30 cities nationwide and in the Caribbean. Overall, the airline operates over 1,500 daily flights to around 160 cities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
