American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, on Friday launched five daily nonstop flights between New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport (ATL), as well as nonstop jet services between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI).

Eagle is flying the LGA-ATL route with CRJ-700 jet aircraft, featuring Eagle’s new First Class service, while the ORD-TRI service will be operated with 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 jets.

Centrally located between the cities of Bristol, Kingsport and Johnson City, Tennessee, the Tri-Cities airport serves the communities of Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina.

“American Airlines was the first carrier to operate at Tri-Cities Regional Airport, launching service September 1, 1937, and we are delighted to bring the American brand back, with service to the Tri-Cities area from our second-largest hub in Chicago,” said Gary Foss, Vice President of Planning and Marketing for the AA Regional Network. “These new flights to one of American’s premier international gateways will offer local business travelers convenient connections to the West Coast as well as destinations throughout American’s global network.”

Art Torno, American Airlines Vice President in New York, said American Airlines is absolutely committed to their New York customers, “and American Eagle plays a key role in providing additional service and more options to more destinations, further improving our customers’ travel experience. These five daily flights to Atlanta not only link two powerful business centers, but also offer customers convenient connections through New York to destinations throughout American’s global network.”
