Thousands Of European Flights Canceled Through Friday Afternoon

Many European nations have extended airspace closures through Friday afternoon as forecasts show no signs of Iceland’s volcanic ash abetting.

The UK has extended its airspace closure to 1pm local time Friday, while Denmark and Sweden have extended theirs through 12pm local time.

Eurocontrol estimates up to 6,000 flights in Europe were canceled today.
