PHOTOS: Gulfstream Jet Collides With Tanker Truck at Boeing Field

A wingtip fuel tank of a vintage Gulfstream business jet slammed through the windshield of a fuel tanker truck at Boeing Field (BFI) in Seattle on Thursday evening, pinning the driver inside for over an hour and spilling a substantial amount of jet fuel onto the tarmac. Thankfully, the driver was conscious and alert when he was finally removed.

According to FAA records, the 1977 Gulfstream G-IITT, registration N706TJ, belongs to JetStar Air, a Beverly Hills-based charter operator. It is unclear whether the truck driver or the pilots of the aircraft were at fault.

  • Hard to say…I saw the jet go to the end of the taxiway and thought he was going to turn onto the threshold. He swung around and stopped. Then the fire trucks went out. The fuel truck was on the other side, so I can't say I saw the collision directly.

  • I was just at BFI on Thursday, visiting Kenmore Air and Wings Aloft. I was actually out on the ramp a couple hours before the incident… All I can say is WOW. I'm glad the driver seemed to escape serious injury. At the time of the collision, I was walking out of Randy's Restaurant on the corner of BFI.

      Airplanes do not have the right of way over stationary objects. I suppose if an airplane taxis into a hangar, it is the hangar's fault for being there? Instead, let's allow the agencies responsible for investigating make a determination regarding fault.

    True we need to wait until the FAA investication is done or if there is any video to fine out what happen. But it look the driver was distrated by something either talking on cell phone or texting that is happening a lot on this business. That is the reason company had to make sure employees don't have any cell phone with them while on the ramp.
