Boeing announced on Thursday that it has selected Atlas Air to operate the fleet of four 747-400LCF Dreamlifter aircraft that have been modified to transport assemblies of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from manufacturers around the world to Boeing’s production facilities.
The partnership will take effect in the latter part of 2010 and is slated to last nine years.
Boeing will maintain ownership of the Dreamlifter fleet while Atlas will provide the operating crews. William Flynn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Air said “We look forward to working closely with Boeing and to providing world-class Dreamlifter service”.
