Boeing’s fourth 787 Dreamliner airframe took flight for the first today, jetting from Paine Field (PAE) in Everett to Boeing Field (BFI) in Seattle, with a brief stop at Moses Lake (MWH) in between.
While the latest Dreamliner in the sky is designated with build number ZA004 as the fourth off the assembly line, it is actually only the third to fly. ZA003 is still being prepared for its flight later this month. Registered N7874, the new jetliner will be used for testing ETOPS (extend twin-engine operations), community noise, and flight loads.
Special thanks to David Lilienthal for the spectacular coverage.
