Airbus Confirms New Winglets for A320

a320-sharklets-newUnder development since 2008, the Blended Winglets designed by Aviation Partners have proven to be of value to the Airbus A320.  Airbus has announced the addition of these winglets to all new A320s starting with Air New Zealand deliveries in 2012.  Dubbed “sharklets” referencing their resemblance to shark fins, they are expected to reduce fuel burn by 3.5%, reduce emissions, and increase range by 110 nautical miles.
