Delta Airlines will be adding 747-400s to two existing routes at JFK late next spring, which will be the first visit of the type in Delta colors to the airport.
They will be upgrading from a 777-200 on their JFK-Tokyo (NRT) beginning June 1, 2010, and from a 767-300 to Tel Aviv (TLV) on June 3, 2010. Delta’s 747-400s are actually operated by Northwest by Northwest crews. As long as Delta and Northwest do not officially merge certificates by next June, Narita flight will be under a Northwest flight number, and the Tel Aviv will be a Delta flight.
Delta Airlines will also commence flights to Copenhagen (CPH) from New York’s JFK Airport on May 28, 2010 using 170-seat Boeing 757-200s. New York is currently linked to Copenhagen by both Continental Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines out of Newark (EWR), and Delta also flies there from Atlanta.
