UPS A300 Diverts to PIT with Fire Indication

The crew of UPS Flight 610 declared emergency, reporting an on-boarf fire indication on their Airbus A300 (registered N155UP).

Operating from Philadelphia (PHL) to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), the aircraft quickly landed on PIT’s runway 10R, where it was determined to be a false indication.

N155UP is a P&W PW4158-powered Airbus A-300F4-622R, built and delivered to UPS in 2004 (c/n 0841).

In February of 2006, a UPS DC-8 caught fire while on approach to PHL’s runway 27R and landed relatively safely, where the three crew members were taken to th hospital for smoke inhilation. The aircraft (N748UP) was written off.
