The setting sun cast a pink sky behind the recently-passed pastel blue storm clouds. From the northeast she came, N744P.
Though La Guardia is visited by Piedmont daily in the form of Dash-8s painted in US Airways “middle” dark blue colors, an actual Piedmont scheme has not been seen here since the early 1980s. On a more modern A319, the aircraft came in on runway 22 with many passerby at College Point’s Herman MacNeil Park not even noticing the historic visit arriving above them.

Sporting a bright blue cheatline, many thought that the aircraft didn’t exactly portray the scheme as well as it could have. US Airways has already promised to repaint the areas of the aircraft to liken it to the colors that Piedmont fans are used to.
Making its first visit Thursday evening, the aircraft is expected to visit Friday the 19th, with arrivals at 9:10am and 3:08pm, and departures at 6:00am, 10:00am and 4:00pm. Weather calls for rain to end after 10:00am.
This was the last scheme that US Airways will be making, having already made those of PSA, Allegheny and a few for America West.
